Plus on avance, plus les paysages sont impressionnants. De plus en plus de relief en "étages". Puis c'est le passage en Arizona (6ème état). On a reculé les montres d'une heure (9 heures avec Paris). En Arizona, globalement, il n'y a pas de changement d'heure (été/hiver) donc en fonction de la période c'est soit le MST soit le PST ! Mais pas forcément dans tout l'état d'Arizona. Ca semble bien compliqué! La route 66 passe en plein milieu du Parc National de la forêt pétrifiée. Au nord il y a le "Painting Desert". Les paysages sont incroyables. Le désert est d'une multitudes de couleurs différentes. Puis au sud il y a les reste d'une forêt très ancienne qui a été dévasté et dont une partie des troncs se sont fossilisés. Plein gaz vers l'ouest et à 10 km de la route 66 se trouve le Meteor Crater. Le crater formé par la chute d'un météorite il y a 59 000 ans; Ce crater semblerait le plus protégé et authentique de la planète. Là encore c'est impressionnant ar la taille avec un diamètre de 1 250 m et une profondeur de 175 m. Enfin on arrive à Flagstaff. Le paysage change totalement en quelques kilomètres dès l'arrivée à Flagstaff avec de la montagne et de la forêt de conifère. On est toujours haut en altitude ( 2106 m). Pour dîner ce soir, il y a un restaurant de cuisne américaine classique (d'après internet) juste en face de l'hôtel. Encore une grande surprise. Ce restaurant existe depuis les années 50 et a gardé le même style. On se serait cru dans "Happy days". Il y a 100 shakes différents! Le burger au bleu, le shake et l'énorme dessert étaient ÉNORME, par la taille et par la qualité.

The further we go, the more impressive the landscapes are. More and more relief in "floors". Then it is the passage in Arizona (6th state). The watches were lowered by one hour (9 hours with Paris). In Arizona, globally, there is no time change (summer/ winter) so depending on the period it is either the MST or the PST! But not necessarily in the whole state of Arizona. It seems complicated! Route 66 passes right in the middle of the Petrified Forest National Park. To the north there is the "Painting Desert". The landscapes are incredible. The desert is of a multitude of different colors. Then to the south there are the remains of a very old forest that was devastated and some of the trunks were fossilized. Full throttle to the west and 10 km from Route 66 is the Meteor Crater. The crater formed by the fall of a meteorite 59,000 years ago; this crater would seem the most protected and authentic on the planet. Here again it is impressive ar the size with a diameter of 1 250 m and a depth of 175 m. Finally we arrive at Flagstaff. The landscape changes completely in a few kilometers from the arrival in Flagstaff with mountain and coniferous forest. We are still high in altitude ( 2106 m). For dinner tonight, there is a classic American cuisine restaurant (according to the internet) right in front of the hotel. Another big surprise. This restaurant has been around since the 1950s and has kept the same style. It looked like "Happy days". There are 100 different shakes! The blue burger, the shake and the huge dessert were HUGE, in size and quality.
