On quitte Flagstaff en traversant la forêt. Pour le coup on est bien en montagne plus comme on a l'habitude (toujours à plus ou moins 2000 m d'altitude). Puis c'est le moment de quitter la route 66 pour 36 heures. Direction le Grand Canyon. C'est à moins de 100 km de la 66. On commence par un tour en hélicoptère de trente minutes. Donc un grand survol d'une grande partie du Canyon. Extraordinaire! Puis on enchaîne notre tour par une longue balade sur l'Arizona Trail. C'est un sentier qui traverse toute l'Arizona du nord au sud. Cette balade ce fait en forêt, car tout autour du Grand Canyon il y a une immense forêt. En route on s’arrête à une tour de surveillance des incendies. On a même le droit de monter au sommet. On surplombe toute la forêt et on aperçoit un petit peu le Canyon. Pour finir on arrive sur le bord du Grand Canyon pour le coucher de soleil. GRANDIOSE. Même s'il y a quelques nuages, le soleil brille suffisamment pour rougir les parois du Canyon.

We leave Flagstaff by crossing the forest. For now we are well in the mountains more as we are used (always at more or less 2000 m of altitude). Then it’s time to leave Highway 66 for 36 hours. Direction Grand Canyon. It’s less than 100 km from Highway 66. We start with a thirty-minute helicopter tour. So a great overflight of a large part of the Canyon. Extraordinary! Then we continue our tour with a long walk on the Arizona Trail. It is a trail that crosses all of Arizona from north to south. This walk is done in the forest, because all around the Grand Canyon there is a huge forest. On the way we stop at a fire tower. We even have the right to climb to the top. We overlook the whole forest and we see a little bit of the Canyon. Finally we arrive on the edge of the Grand Canyon for the sunset. GRANDIOSE. Even if there are some clouds, the sunshines enough to blush the walls of the Canyon.
